About Emphysema
Millions of Europeans are living with emphysema, a chronic condition that makes breathing difficult and severely impacts quality of life.
The IBV Valve System provides a new treatment for emphysema. The system is intended to treat diseased lungs in emphysematous patients by limiting airflow to selected areas.
During a minimally invasive procedure, a catheter is passed through a bronchoscope to deploy the small umbrella-shaped valves into the airways of the targeted lobe(s) of the lungs.
Although the valves are intended to be permanent, they are designed to be removed via a bronchoscopic procedure, if necessary.
The IBV Valve System is currently under investigation for the treatment of severe emphysema. It has not been approved for this use in the United States.
The preceding statements are intended for European audiences and use only.
